Skincare in the Year of the Tiger

Posted by Ashmira Botanica on

The Chinese Lunar New Year begins on the 1st of February this year. 2022 will be the year of the Tiger. Each year cycles around the twelve animals (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig). The Chinese zodiac is an important concept for the Ashmira Botanica skincare range. Therefore, this is a perfect opportunity to let you know more about the inspirations behind the range. But first, lets look at the possibilities this New Year has for you.

What Does the Tiger Represent?

The zodiac is based around the story of a race between the twelve animals. The tiger placed third in the ‘Great Race’ after believing he would come first. Because of this, the tiger in Chinese Zodiac is a figure of great ambition and competition.

The tiger, however, also symbolises a sense of justice, generosity, and a need to help. The tiger, however, also symbolises a sense of justice, generosity, and a need to help.

The Year of the Tiger will be all about big changes and taking chances. We will be finding our feet again after the negativity of the last two years. The Tiger is associated with Yang which suggests great activity, energy, and stimulation. Self-belief and listening to your intuition will be important this year. This is to help navigate the fast-changing atmosphere and help you not to get swept away.

The Significance of Water

In Chinese astrology, the years also cycle through the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water). 2022 will be a water year, making it the year of the Water Tiger. The water element acts as an amplifier for the Tiger spirit, reflecting this symbolism of change and renewed energy. Water is also strongly linked to bringing forth emotions. This reiterates our need to trust our intuition over our emotions when facing big changes.

How Does Skincare Fit in the Year of the Water Tiger?

The main aspects of this new Lunar Year are change, ambition and a focus on helping others. For your salon or spa, this is a year to take chances on innovative new products and treatments. You will want to focus on products that help your customers. Ashmira Botanica elemental clay powders and elixirs are personalised to a client’s emotion, to focus on balancing their energies.

Because of the strong association with Yang, you may also want to invest in Yin products. These will help to balance out and soothe the overstimulation and energy.
