Incorporating Wellness and Skincare

Incorporating Wellness and Skincare

Posted by Ashmira Botanica on

Wellness has become one of the biggest trends in spa treatments. Practices such as meditation, crystals and sound healing have become popular additions to many treatments. Our wellness based skincare range incorporates many of these practices to offer a relaxation like never before. Here are some of the ways you can combine wellness and skincare.

Wellness and Skincare in Chinese Medicine

The Five Element Theory

In Ancient Chinese history an emperor had a counsel of twelve wise men. Their guidance helped the emperor to govern his country and its people. The way they would advise him was to look at the energy of the forthcoming year and foresee any problems that lie ahead. They would also see how the energetic quality of that year could create any potential health problems for the emperor. They believed that how we feel on the inside (psychologically) and the outside (physically) affects how we age.

Our Ashmira Botanica method adapts the above perception to western cosmetics. In life, their are problems that can either be avoided or handled. The plants and essential oils in our products produce energy that help to achieve this.

Your face is like a mirror, reflecting back to us any imbalances that may be occurring within your body. Lines, wrinkles, spots and imperfections in certain areas of your face show us where a blockage in your energy pathways may lie. We can choose products to rebalance this energy. If your energy flow free your skin will reflect this.

How We Incorporate Wellness and Skincare

Cupping is the ancient Chinese technique of placing warm cups, usually made of glass, onto the skin. This is to improve the flow of qi (energy) in the body. To increase blood flow and loosen the connective tissue, skin tissue is drawn up into the cup. Cupping also helps to stimulate healing.

We use a soft, flexible silicon cup and keep the cups moving on the skin without holding them still. This is to prevent any bruising or redness.

Facial cupping can help stimulate collagen, even out and smooth skin tone. It promotes circulation and relieves muscle tension. It also sculpts the face by gently pulling and lifting the facia, working on the skin at a deeper level.

Sound Healing

Sound healing is used to create healing vibrations around the body to help improve emotional health and well-being. The aim is to create a deep meditative state using gongs, chimes, sound bowls etc.

We end many of our treatments with sound healing. We will use quartz crystal bowls and chimes that attune to one of the Five Elements of Chinese Medicine to further personalise the treatment. They help to end a treatment in a more relaxing and mindful way, instead of abruptly pulling a client out from their state of deep relaxation.

Crystal Therapy

For thousands of years, crystals have been used in facial treatments. They help relax facial muscles, improve circulation and reduce puffiness. Crystals hold energy and healing vibrations which can relax, sooth, uplift and rejuvenate.

Crystals absorb the energies of the sun, moon and oceans (all-natural healing energies). When you place or hold a crystal over the body, it interacts with the body's healing chakras. This then promotes physical and mental wellness as well as emotional and spiritual cleansing.

We use Tourmaline Powder to revitalise the skin and impart radiance. At the end of our face treatments we use rose quartz rollers to boost circulation and aid lymphatic drainage.

The beginning of many of our treatments involve drinking Organic Ceremonial Cacao.

The Amazonian Superfood:

  • has 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries,
  • very high plant-based source of iron,
  • packed full of magnesium
  • has more calcium than cow's milk

Cacao is also a great source of four scientifically proven happy chemicals (serotonin, tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylethylamine.)

We include it in our treatments to help you journey within and connect with your emotional heart to uplift, help heal your emotions and leave you with a feeling of utter bliss.
