Cupuacu is one of the main active ingredients in Ashmira Botanica pre and post waxing products. One of our key values is to use natural, botanical ingredients that will protect the skin throughout a waxing treatment. So why did we choose cupuacu?
What is Cupuacu?
Cupuacu (Theobroma grandiflorum) is a wonderful soft, creamy butter with a high fatty acid content.
Pronounced coo pwa sue, it's been found to increase skin hydration. This is due to its amazing capacity for water absorption and leaves the skin feeling silky smooth and very soft.
Where is It From?
The cupuacu tree is a relative of the cacao (or cocoa/chocolate) tree. The trees are located in the Amazon. The people living there have been using it for years to soften and hydrate their skin and hair. The pods contain an edible pulp and seeds.
Why Do We Use It?
-Increased levels of hydration with continued use.
The hydrating properties don't just last as part of a waxing treatment. With continual application the butter can increase the skins hydration levels. The best way for your clients to see these results is to purchase a retail size Comfort Balm and continue their treatment with it at home.
-Soothes the skin.
The butter helps to soothe damaged or sunburnt skin. Therefore, we use this ingredient in our Protective Face Cream. Our face cream an be applied after a facial wax to protect the skin and reduce the redness that is common after a wax treatment.
-Natural and Sustainable
The farming of cupuacu for butter uses the seeds which would otherwise be thrown away. Studies have shown that the farming of cupuacu is sustainable to the environment.
One of our most important values is choosing ingredients which are just as kind to the planet as they are to your skin. Using cupuacu butter is the best option for you, your clients and the Earth.
