Booking your first wax treatment can be a little intimidating for some especially if you don’t know what to expect. There are plenty of myths around waxing, but we’re here to let you know the five tips you really need to know before your first wax so you can get the best out of your treatment
Five Tips for Your First Wax
Tip One: Grow Your Hair Out
The general rule for how long your hair should be to get an effective wax is at least ¼ of an inch long. The time it might take to grow to this length will vary from person to person, but it may be around two weeks
Tip Two: Pick the Right Salon
Double check that the salon uses natural products that will nourish and protect your skin, and high-quality waxes that will make your treatment effective and more comfortable for you. The best wax products will not just give you a great wax, but also help prevent redness, ingrown hairs, spots and other common after wax skin complaints. We have a whole range of products available that treat your skin before, during and after a wax so don’t be afraid to check with a salon what they have in stock.
If you are vegan, you may want to check that they stock vegan alternatives. All Ashmira Botanica products use natural, botanical ingredients and our pre and post wax products are all vegan. We also offer two vegan waxes called River Moss and Seagrass, so you can check with your salon whether they have our vegan options. If in doubt, ask for Ashmira!
Tip Three: Wear Loose Clothing
Wearing loose fitting clothes to your treatment is an important way to avoid ingrown hairs and other skin complaints after a wax. It will also help to avoid chaffing the sensitive post-wax skin
Tip Four: Continue Your Wax Treatment at Home
Your wax treatment should not end at the salon. To maintain beautiful, hair-free skin until your next waxing appointment, your beauty therapist should offer you a range of products to take home with you. If your salon stocks Ashmira Botanica, these could include:
Ingrown Hair Serum helps to prevent and soothe any ingrown hairs. It has a simple roll-on function that makes it easy and effective to use.
Protective Face Cream is especially useful after facial waxes (eyebrows or upper lip). It is the first UK after wax product to include SPF and helps to protect freshly waxed skin from the sun. This prevents the little white spots that are often common after these waxes.
Comfort Balm should also be used by the therapist in your treatment but can be taken home by you to help soothe and calm the skin after waxing. It also helps to slow hair re-growth and prevents ingrown hairs.
And Finally Tip Five…Relax
One of our core values at Ashmira Botanica is that waxing should be a spa like treatment. We want you and your skin to leave feeling refreshed and silky smooth. Follow these tips and enjoy your hair free skin.
